This website hase been developed by the Nigerian Energy Support Programme (NESP) for the Federal Government of Nigeria. NESP is a technical cooperation programme co-funded by the European Union and the German Government and co-implemented by the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. This project is funded by the European Union & the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ)
The map visualizes data of the current status of electrification (with a focus on off-grid areas) in the five NESP partner states: Cross River, Niger, Ogun, Plateau and Sokoto. The website provides prospective project developers and investors with market intelligence regarding the potentials for off-grid electrification (i.e. mini-grids and stand-alone systems).
By applying filters regarding population, estimated load or distance from the main grid, users are able to narrow down their search in their quest for the communities with the highest potential for their electrification solutions. Also, users are able to download the datasets in csv (excel compatible) or kml (google maps compatible) formats.
The data used for visualization was compiled and created by INTEGRATION Environment & Energy GmbH and the Reiner Lemoine Institute.
